As you learned in Chapter 5, the CBM formula is a measurement of the volume for the products you order/ship. Begin with this basic equation for calculating the volume of one shipping carton, and calculate in meters.
Total CBM = Case CBM * Number of Cases Shipped
What is CBM formula?
CBM Calculation Formula : Length (centimeter) x Width (centimeter) x Height (centimeter) / 1,000,000 = Length meter x Width meter x Height meter = Cubic meter (m3) .
Example: 36 cm x 25 cm x 13 cm = 0.0117 cbm.
For the calculation for the measurement of the shipment simply multiply the CBM by the number of cases
Total CBM = Case CBM * Number of Cases Shipped
Let’s apply this formula to the same shoe box example. According to the CBM formula, that means the volume of one average shoebox is the following:
The Box dimensions are 36cm*25cm*13cm
The number of cases shipped were 250
Case CBM = 0.0117 * 250 cases
Total CBM = 2.925 cbm
